Rescheduling was first reported by MMA Junkie.

Holm (12-5) competed once in 2019, losing bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the first round of TKO at UFC 239. , Cris Cyborg, and Germaine de Randamie.

Holm will be re-booked to face Pennington with the next UFC 246 fight card as all her hamstring tendons are ready, Las Vegas, Nevada, according to MMA Junkie.

UFC 246 will take place on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card will be broadcast in pay-per-view following the qualifying for ESPN2 and ESPN + / UFC Fight Pass.

The 38-year-old Holm returns to action for the first time since Amandanunes lost the title at UFC 239 in March. UFC President Dana White questioned if there was any proof remaining after the former woman’s bantamweight titleholder failed to reclaim the belt, but Holm argued that she did.

She has the opportunity to prove herself in a rematch with 31-year-old Pennington who welcomed Holm in a February 2015 defeat at the UFC 184 split decision. Pennington fought a skid, including the loss of Nunes and Jermain Doran Dummy, in ESPN 4 July.

Lowdown

Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington rematch and kick off Melbourne’s main card. Both fighters are slippery, hoping to stay involved in the division, but this is guaranteed to be a high-caliber display of mixed martial arts.

Holm brought back the loot in the first battle and was a welcome party to the UFC. The champion boxer was handed a tough test with a powerful grappler, which was a split decision, but she passed in flying colors by defending every takedown attempt.

Since then, Holm has a prestigious UFC career and has fought five to five times, including five title fights. She has unforgettable pushed Ronda Rousey out of the status of a “ goddess, ” but Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko, Jermaine de Randemy, Chris Cyborg, Amanda Nunes, and others are among the best in MMA history Struggling to replicate that feat to fight female fighters handed her the first knockout of her career in a catastrophic fashion.

Although Pennington has a flattering record of 10-7, it happens when you fight most of your UFC career. She fought Nunez and De Randemie on her return as she was severely injured outside of the cage, but struggled to match her performance with Miesha Tate. However, she returned to the win with a split point in the last fight against Irene Aldana.

Prediction

Their first fight dates back to 2015, and both fighters have improved considerably, but it’s hard to see this proceed in different ways. Pennington has an obvious grappling advantage and Holm has a clear strike advantage, so Holm’s takedown defense has been even better since the first fight.

Holm is expected to maintain the fight and take advantage of her impeccable exercise and cardio to outwork and outstrike Pennington. Her endurance drags the battle to another decision.
